KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner Lieutenant General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi has highlighted deep-rooted issues of corruption and inefficiency within South Africa’s justice system describing it as fundamentally compromised.
Speaking at a recent parliamentary summit focused on gang-related violence, Mkhwanazi said a critical review of the entire legal value chain, including lawyers, prosecutors, and presiding officers, was essential.
Mkhwanazi’s assessment comes as the Madlanga Commission continues to expose extensive corruption, political interference, and syndicate infiltration.
However, with the commission’s second interim report under wraps, the delay has fueled suspicions that some high-profile figures and political leaders are being shielded from scrutiny.
