MonITNG said the roads should not be regarded merely as infrastructure in poor condition because of their importance to commerce and the movement of people across the region.
A civic technology organisation, MonITNG, has blasted the Edo and Delta state governments as well as President Bola Tinubu’s administration over the worsening conditions of the Benin–Agbor Bypass and Benin–Sapele–Warri Road, describing the major highways as a “death trap” to users.
MonITNG specifically raised concerns over the Benin–Agbor Bypass in Edo State and the Benin–Sapele–Warri Road in Delta State, particularly the Oghara–Mosogar axis, where motorists are reportedly spending several hours in traffic due to damaged and muddy sections of the roads.
In a statement addressed to Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo, Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and the Federal Ministry of Works, MonITNG said the deteriorating road infrastructure was disrupting businesses, delaying the movement of goods and exposing travellers to security risks.
“Dear Governor @m_akpakomiza (Governor Monday Okpebholo), @RtHonSheriff (Governor Sheriff Oborevwori) & @FMWNIG (Federal Ministry of Works), Edo and Delta Roads: An Urgent Appeal,” the organisation said.
