The Nigerian Government has announced plans to repatriate another 65 Nigerians from South Africa amid continued concerns over xenophobic attacks and anti-foreigner sentiments in the country.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs disclosed this in a post on its official X handle on Tuesday.
The ministry said the 65 Nigerians, whose return tickets were sponsored by private individuals, would depart Oliver Tambo International Airport, Johannesburg, on Wednesday, August 26, 2026.
“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs wishes to inform that another set of 65 Nigerian nationals sponsored by private individuals will depart the Oliver Tambo International Airport, Johannesburg, South Africa on Wednesday 26 August 2026 at 3.30pm local time via South African Airways,” the ministry said.
It added that the returnees were expected to arrive at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, at 8:45 p.m. on the same day.
