Over 50 ABVP members detained during protest outside KPSC office in Bengaluru

Over 40 members of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) were detained by Bengaluru police on Tuesday (August 25, 2026) after they staged a protest outside the Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC) office.The protesters staged a dharna on the busy road outside the KPSC office, raising slogans against the State government. The protest disrupted traffic in the area for some time, following which police personnel rushed to the spot and detained the protesters.The protesters were taken to the High Grounds police station for allegedly violating High Court orders governing protests and public gatherings.At the police station, some ABVP members alleged that the police used excessive force while detaining them and claimed that several students sustained injuries during the police action. They also alleged that police personnel refused to take the injured students to hospital and instead provided first aid at the station.Senior police officials, however, denied the allegations of brutality.
