The police have launched a search for a group of men who allegedly went on a rampage and damaged a grocery shop, a house, and parked vehicles in Kolathur on Sunday night following a dispute over payment for cakes.The incident occurred around 10.30 p.m. on Ambedkar Nagar Fourth Street, where Maripandi, 46, runs a grocery shop in front of his residence. According to the police, two men, allegedly under the influence of alcohol, visited the shop and asked for six cakes priced ₹20 each. They claimed to have only ₹100 and refused to pay the ₹120 bill. When Maripandi offered to sell them the cakes for ₹110, the duo allegedly began abusing him.The two men later called their associates to the spot. Anticipating trouble, Maripandi shut the shop and went inside his house. The group allegedly picked up stones from the road and hurled them at the shop and the house while shouting obscenities. They also damaged several vehicles parked along the road. The group then fled the spot.The Rajamangalam police registered a case based on Maripandi’s complaint and launched an investigation.
