Panic gripped Neduvayal village in the district for a few hours after two wild elephants strayed into the hamlet on Tuesday.Wild animals such as elephants, Indian gaur, deer and bears often invade ranches close to the Western Ghats and waterbodies in search of food and water, resulting in crop damage and man-animal conflict.When two wild elephants entered Neduvayal village off the Shencottai-Kadayanallur Road on Tuesday, the gentle giants took a bath in a pond on the outskirts of the hamlet. After farmers noticed them and alerted the Forest Department personnel, the animals entered a nearby coconut grove.
