About 3,000 influenza cases have been reported in Delhi this year, including more than 2,300 H1N1, or swine flu, infections, PTI quoted the national capital’s Health Minister Pankaj Kumar Singh as saying on Tuesday.Officials of the health department, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi, the New Delhi Municipal Council and the Delhi Cantonment Board held a review meeting to assess arrangements and preparedness for seasonal influenza and vector-borne diseases in the national capital.Vector-borne diseases are illnesses caused by parasites, viruses or bacteria that are transmitted to humans through living organisms known as vectors.At a press conference held after the meeting, Singh said that Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has also called an emergency review meeting, the news agency reported.Singh said that there is no shortage of doctors, staff or medicines, and “everything is under control”.H1N1 typically causes symptoms such as fever, cough, sore throat, headache, body aches and tiredness.
