Aug. 25 (UPI) -- Game of Thrones icon Kit Harington has signed on to play Gilderoy Lockhart in HBO's upcoming Harry Potter series.
"Before we begin year two at Hogwarts, there has been a slight change due to scheduling: Kit Harington will now be stepping into the role of Gilderoy Lockhart," the cable network posted on Instagram Monday.
Harington previously voiced the role in the Audible Original adaptation of J.K. Rowling's best-selling fantasy novels.
Nicholas Hoult was initially cast as Lockhart in the HBO version, but reportedly had to leave the project due to scheduling conflicts.
