Prosecutors say two defendants made false claims to secure approval for 130 AI servers, telling authorities the hardware would stay in Taiwan

Taiwan prosecutors charged nine people on Monday — including former employees of Nvidia $NVDA and Super Micro Computer — with facilitating the shipment of dozens of advanced AI servers to China in violation of U.S. export controls, according to the Wall Street Journal.
Two of the defendants, prosecutors said, submitted fraudulent documentation to gain clearance for a purchase of 130 AI servers from Super Micro outfitted with high-end Nvidia chips. One of those false claims held that the servers would stay at a Taiwan-based facility, according to the Wall Street Journal.
