Sometimes it’s noticeable in the little things: the father who almost exclusively wears high-quality white T-shirts and tailored olive military pants, but always some different, interesting combination of accessories on his wrists, fingers, and around his neck. Another father, who I see pushing his Bugaboo around the neighborhood, always has the rugged-yet-clean earth-tones thing down, and every outfit looks like it costs him anywhere from $300 to $500. Then there’s the other dad I’ve seen at the farmers’ market this summer, walking around in high-waisted trousers with an undershirt tucked in, and some lightweight material oxford worn open on top. His beard is perfectly groomed, he always has on a pair of black sunglasses with a yellowish tint, and I can tell he takes his stuff to get tailored because he’s built just like me (about five-foot-11, stocky, face is mostly beard) and sometimes wears a pair of pants that I also own, and they fit him too perfectly.
