Pagode da Garagem — Rio’s Only Tuesday Roda in Centro
Tuesday is quiet in Rio, and most of the famous samba houses are shut. One roda runs every Tuesday regardless: Pagode da Garagem, in the old Estudantina ballroom on Praça Tiradentes. Doors from 6 pm, the roda from around 8 pm, and entry is free before 10 pm or a few reais at the door. It is the only Tuesday roda in Centro on the city’s own samba map, it is indoors, and the door is controlled — which on a quiet night matters.
