Continuing with its updates on the ongoing crackdown, the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) on Tuesday said many major food business operators have taken corrective actions after notices were issued. This includes withdrawing of misleading label claims and revising product packaging to ensure consumer safety and regulatory compliance.In a social media post, FSSAI said Mondelez India Foods, known for brands such as Cadbury and Bournvita, has ensured compliance by withdrawing misleading health claims and nutrient comparative claims. It has also removed misleading ads from e-commerce platforms. Meanwhile, the food regulator said nutritional-supplement maker Sapiens Labs has also withdrawn all misleading claims and ads.Amway IndiaSimilarly, Amway India, which sells dietary supplements and other edible products, has removed “100 per cent” claims from product packaging and promotional materials and has assured that it has discontinued the sales of old stocks. It also informed FSSAI that a revised packaging without such claims was finalised, which will be rolled out in the next couple of months.“Amway India Enterprises has accepted the directions and taken down the term “energy drink” on its XS product range. Clarifying that the descriptor was used in good faith following FSSAI’s March 2024 advisory, Amway has voluntarily revised its product artwork, website, and promotional materials to remove the word energy,” FSSAI noted in its social media post.Juza FoodsKerala-based Juza Foods, too, has agreed to remove misleading health claims, including 100 per cent Vegan and other related claims, the FSSAI noted. It added that the company has decided to shut down its website until it gets the required license to operate it and until it becomes compliant with the regulations.
