Apple is set to unveil a new Mac mini desktop computer after nearly two years, Bloomberg’s chief correspondent for Apple Mark Gurman reported earlier today (25 August).
The new device can be expected in the coming days, ahead of the company’s annual September series of launches, sources told the publication. This is likely the last new product launch under CEO Tim Cook, who is set to retire on 1 September.
The expected upgrade to Apple’s Mac mini line follows a growth in demand for the small, portable device popularly used to run AI applications locally.
“We’re seeing customers increasingly…[use] Mac mini as a powerful platform for agentic AI to deploying clusters of Mac Studio systems to run frontier class models locally,” Cook said at the company’s last earnings call in July.
