U.N. peacekeepers continue to report "extensive destruction" of civilian infrastructure across southern Lebanon, as the region faces extensive Israeli attacks.
The U.N. Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) on Monday said that entire neighborhoods have been wiped out and some destruction appears "systematic rather than selective."
UNIFIL spokesperson Kandice Ardiel told U.N. Radio that peacekeepers have documented widespread damage and destruction from Kafr Kila to Khiam and Naqoura.
Israel has attacked Lebanon since March 2, claiming to target Hezbollah, which joined the wider Middle East war in support of its patron Iran, effectively ending a November 2024 cease-fire.
"Homes and businesses, schools and hospitals and other critical infrastructure like roads, electricity and water networks" have been damaged or destroyed, Ardiel said.
