Israeli politician Zvi Yedidia Sukkot has been filmed attempting to destroy a memorial to Palestinians killed by Israel in the occupied West Bank.

Footage circulated online shows the Religious Zionist Party legislator swinging a sledgehammer at the structure in Madama village, south of Nablus.

Israeli soldiers and border police stood nearby as Sukkot struck the memorial. Members of his staff also accompanied him.

Earlier this month, Sukkot posted a video demanding the destruction of the memorial and similar structures in other Palestinian villages.
