‘Anti-national’ graffiti on the Jadavpur University campus; CM Suvendu AdhikariKOLKATA: CM Suvendu Adhikari on Monday ordered a probe into ‘anti-national’ graffiti on the Jadavpur University campus, telling the VC and the principal secretary of the higher education dept: “If the presence of such anti-national messaging and deranged psychotic drawings is verified, immediate steps must be taken to remove the graffiti, fix accountability and initiate strict administrative and legal action against those responsible.”Posting the videos on his X handle, the CM said his office “has received concerning videos and photographic representations through the CM’s Grievance Cell from conscientious students of Jadavpur University, reporting instances of objectionable, sociopathic, violent and anti-national wall graffiti and drawings inside the Arts Division Boys Hostel premises,” adding, “Under no circumstances will campus premises be permitted to be used as platforms for spreading deranged propaganda and anti-India sentiment.”The CM stated, “The Bengal govt strictly follows zero tolerance policy towards anti-national activities anywhere in the state, especially on campuses. The concerned dept and university administration must ensure stringent compliance and the preservation of academic integrity.”He added, “West Bengal’s educational institutions must remain centres of merit and discipline, not grounds for divisive rhetoric and unsocial activities.”
