JCPenney has a diagnosis for the American value shopper: You’ve picked up some worrisome habits. The chase for a deal leaves you buying items that don’t fit, lack quality and end up abandoned on a hanger or in a cabinet corner. The brand’s latest move, the Retail Rejuvenation Retreat, positions itself as an unexpected cure.
Created with longtime creative partner Mischief, the campaign kicks off with a film following six real off-price shoppers as they slowly overcome their bad shopping habits at a remote haven — part wellness retreat, part gentle intervention. There, attendees learn they can still buy fashionable, quality clothes or brand-name (and notably unscratched) kitchenware at affordable prices.
