Mohammed Rafi.

BOLLYWOOD has produced some of the greatest playback singers in the history of Indian cinema. From the golden voices of Mohammed Rafi, Kishore Kumar, and Mukesh to the romantic dominance of Kumar Sanu and Udit Narayan, and the modern brilliance of Sonu Nigam and Arijit Singh, choosing the greatest male playback singer is almost impossible.

Here are seven of the greatest singers Bollywood has produced.

1. Mohammed Rafi: He remains one of Bollywood's most technically gifted singers. His ability to move effortlessly between romantic songs, classical compositions, qawwalis, bhajans, comedy numbers and energetic tracks was extraordinary. Whether he was singing for a romantic hero, a comedian, or a larger-than-life superstar, Rafi adapted his voice to the character. Songs such as Chaudhvin Ka Chand Ho, Kya Hua Tera Wada and Baharon Phool Barsao demonstrate his incredible range. His greatest strength was perhaps his ability to make technically difficult singing sound effortless.
