West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari on Monday announced that a Rs 6,000-crore project would be inaugurated at Haldia Petrochemicals on October 14, ahead of Durga Puja.He also announced that an L&T project would be inaugurated at the state's Silicon Valley hub on August 27."On October 14, a project worth around Rs 6,000 crore will be inaugurated at Haldia Petrochemicals," Adhikari said at a press conference at the state secretariat.The chief minister said the state was also witnessing investment in the private healthcare sector and other industries, with several projects in the pipeline.Adhikari also announced an increase in financial assistance for journalists in the state.He said 154 journalists who were earlier receiving financial assistance of up to Rs 2,000 per month would now be eligible for monthly assistance of up to Rs 5,000.The state government has also made arrangements for healthcare services for journalists, he said.Published on August 25, 2026
