The sources spoke on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak freely on the topic.People familiar with the Marlins’ decision did not specify exactly how many scouts were being let go but did say that not renewing several of them reflected the front office’s desire to use more video during the scouting process. Many clubs have cut from their various scouting departments in recent years because more video and information is available on players. For these clubs like the Marlins, the scouting job has evolved, which makes what they value different.According to club sources, the Marlins do plan to still have some people from within their pro department scout players in-person.
