Manchester City have agreed a €40million deal to sign Allan Elias from Palmeiras.The proposed deal consists of a fixed €37.5m fee with €2.5m in add-ons, while the contract length is yet to be finalised.The Athletic reported on August 20 that City had identified Allan as one of multiple targets as they sought to add to their attack, though Palmeiras had insisted he was not for sale, with sources briefed on the Brazilian club’s situation indicating that his release clause is set at €100million.This comes after City agreed a deal to sell winger Savinho to Tottenham Hotspur, with the north London side paying £75m up front plus £10m in potential add-ons. The Athletic also reported that Spurs were advancing in talks to sign Savinho’s City team-mate Omar Marmoush.A deal for Allan would see him become City’s third signing of the summer, following the arrival of Elliot Anderson from Nottingham Forest for £116m and 17-year-old Jeremy Monga from Leicester City. Enzo Maresca’s side are also set to sign 18-year-old midfielder Ayyoub Bouaddi, after agreeing a €95m deal with Lille.
Allan came through the academy at Palmeiras, making his senior debut for his boyhood club in January 2025. The 22-year-old has made 96 appearances for the team in all competitions, scoring nine goals and providing 12 assists.City opened the new Premier League season with a 2-1 comeback win over Bournemouth on Sunday. He has performed well in more of a wing-back role, strong in duels and energetic to run the flanks, but he can also pose a danger from a more advanced position, notably scoring and assisting against defending champions Flamengo in May. Though he can go both ways, Allan likes to shift the ball onto his left foot, where he strikes through the ball consistently cleanly from distance.His versatility will appeal to Maresca, while his physical profile should stand him in good stead.
