In light of tense situation in Puttur following the clash between two groups outside a copying centre on August 22, the police conducted a route march in Puttur Town on Monday to ensure peaceful conduct of Id Milad on TuesdayIn a press note, Dakshina Kannada Superintendent of Police K. Arun said the route march was done on Monday to instill confidence and sense of security among people. For Id Milad, most shops will be closed in Puttur on Tuesday. Police have been deployed in more number to ensure that no shop is forced to close down.In addition to deploying personnel from Karnataka State Reserve Police, District Armed Reserve, and Special Action Force, one each Additional Superintendent of Police and Deputy Superintendent of Police, eight Police Sub-Inspectors, 10 Assistant Sub-Inspectors, and 50 police personnel, will be deployed on Tuesday, Dr. Arun said.Despite Puttur police conducting a dispassionate inquiry and issuing notices to suspects with respect to three cases registered in connection with the clash, rumours were being spread that the police were treating the case in a light manner.
