The Washington Post has been ordered to reinstate columnist Karen Attiah after an arbitrator ruled that the newspaper did not have sufficient grounds to fire her over social media posts she made following the killing of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.
The ruling was issued by private arbitrator Sarah Miller Espinosa, who found that The Washington Post had violated its labor agreement with Attiah and failed to establish that she engaged in gross misconduct.
The arbitrator also ordered the newspaper to pay Attiah back wages.
