The ERC made the call in a press statement signed by its Branch Secretary, Comrade Ochi N, and dated August 24, 2026.
The Education Rights Campaign (ERC), University of Ibadan, has condemned the continued deterioration of learning and living conditions on the campus, calling on students to prevail on the Students’ Union leadership to intensify the fight for improved welfare conditions and the reinstatement of politically victimised student activists.
The ERC made the call in a press statement signed by its Branch Secretary, Comrade Ochi N, and dated August 24, 2026.
The group said electricity supply to the halls of residence, lecture rooms and the library had remained epileptic since students returned from the first-semester break, while hostel facilities, including bathrooms and toilets, continued to be poorly maintained and were increasingly falling into disrepair.
According to the ERC, the situation has been worsened by inadequate water supply across the campus, with the group expressing concern over reports that increasing numbers of students were falling ill due to prevailing unhygienic conditions in the halls of residence.
