U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent pledged on Monday to destroy Iran's economy as he gave a live address on a new pressure campaign against Tehran nearly six months into a war, suggesting "no one" should test Washington's resolve.
"Around the globe, our objective is to sever every economic lifeline that sustains this tyrannical regime until Tehran stands alone," Bessent said.
"No one is above the reach of U.S. sanctions," he added.
Bessent said Tehran had two choices in front, either "complete global isolation" or the "path to normalcy."
He pledged for Washington to "block every potential source of revenue" for Iran.
