The Central government has appointed Janmejaya Kumar Sinha, Syed Akbaruddin and Annie George Mathew as part-time, non-official Directors on the Central Board of Reserve Bank of India for four years with effect from August 24, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.Sinha is the Chairman for India and member of Boston Consulting Group’s Henderson Institute Innovation Sounding Board, which is dedicated to supporting, inspiring and guiding upstream innovation at BCG. Prior to joining BCG in 1998, he worked with the RBI.Akbaruddin, an Indian Foreign Service officer of 1985 batch, whose last assignment was as Ambassador/Permanent Representative of India to the United Nations at New York from 2016 to 2020, is currently Dean of the Kautilya School of Public Policy in Hyderabad.

Annie George Mathew, an officer of the Indian Audit and Accounts Service (IA & AS) of the 1988 Batch, superannuated as Special Secretary Expenditure from the Ministry of Finance, in September 2021. She was a full-time Member of the 16th Finance Commission.The appointments come on the heels of the government last week appointing former Chairman of ISRO Somanath Sreedhara Panicker and re-appointing industrialist Anand Gopal Mahindra as part-time, non-official Directors on the Central Board of Reserve Bank of India.
