Sharjah has expanded payment options across its Tahseel government collection system by enabling the UAE’s national payment card, Jaywan, across digital channels and service centres, the emirate’s Central Finance Department said.Customers can use Jaywan through the Tahseel website and smart application as well as at all Tahseel service centres, allowing government payments to be completed remotely or in person. The department said the move was aimed at providing a more flexible and secure government payment experience while simplifying transactions and expanding the choice of payment methods available to customers.More than 558 transactions were completed using Jaywan through Tahseel by the end of the first half of 2026, after the first payment using the card was processed on September 20, 2025.Huda Al Yasi, Director of the Financial System Department, said Tahseel was a key part of Sharjah’s government digital financial infrastructure and that expanding payment options would improve collection efficiency and customer experience.“Making Jaywan available across the system’s various channels is not merely the addition of a new payment option, but a step that strengthens the diversity of national solutions,” she said.Al Yasi said the department would continue developing Tahseel’s capabilities and using digital solutions to simplify payments, improve operational efficiency and meet changing customer needs. The expansion also supports Sharjah’s broader digital transformation drive by integrating a UAE-developed payment solution into government financial services. With over 30 years of journalistic experience spanning from Jordan to the UAE, Khitam has spent the past 22 years reporting on national and regional news from Dubai, with a strong focus on the UAE, GCC and broader Arab affairs.
