The Monday Roda at Pedra do Sal
Monday is Rio’s great samba night, and it belongs to the Pedra do Sal. On the old stone steps in the port — the birthplace of Carioca samba — a free, open-air roda fills the largo with music, dancing and cold beer from around 7 pm. It’s the flagship night here, unmissable and completely free. Come early, bring cash for the drinks, and keep your things close in the crowd.
