A much-anticipated Bill to regulate the activities of private organisations and individuals in public spaces, which was expected to be introduced during the Monsoon Session, did not make it to the legislature. The Cabinet had earlier cleared the Karnataka Regulation of Use of Government Premises and Public Property Bill, 2026, after a Government Order (GO) on the issue was struck down by the Karnataka High Court.Sources said that following the Cabinet decision, the draft Bill was sent to the Law Department for revisions, as several suggestions had emerged during the Cabinet discussion. The revised draft was expected to be ready by Tuesday, they said. However, the session was adjourned sine die on Monday evening.Though several Ministers and Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar had defended the Bill and stated that it was not against any individual or organisation, politically it was seen as an attempt to curtail the activities of RSS on government premises.
