The denial of permission for his visit to the USA by the Centre was `politically motivated’ and detrimental to the development of Telangana, Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy said.Reddy cut short his foreign trip after the Centre refused permission for his US visit and returned from the UK in the wee hours today. Addressing a press conference to clear the ‘misconceptions’ being propagated by the BJP leaders in the State, the Chief Minister said denial of permission to his US visit by the Centre citing ‘political’ angle was a ‘humiliation’ to the people of Telangana and also an ‘act of discrimination’.The purpose of the visit was to forge collaborations with the US universities for education, sports and also to attract investors, which was duly informed to the External Affairs Ministry, he added. Centre permitted Gujarat CM’s ‘Vibrant Gujarat‘ tour to America and Canada and obstructed his US tour under ‘Telangan Rising 2047. He demanded that Prime Minister Narendra Modi disclose the political reasons for not permitting the State delegation, led by him, to embark on the scheduled America visit.Political discriminationThe State government furnished every detail regarding the foreign tour to the Ministry of External Affairs. “We also submitted comprehensive details, but the ministry stated that his tour was being rejected due to political considerations,” Reddy said.Reddy also alleged the Prime Minister was adopting a biased and dismissive attitude towards Telangana and conspired to obstruct Telangana’s development. ”The Centre’s attitude clearly disclosed discrimination against Telangana. Our MPs will raise this issue in Parliament. This is political discrimination and an attempt to stall Telangana’s progress,” the Chief Minister added. The Centre might have blocked his tour, but it would not be able to stop the State government from achieving the goals set by the State government by organising the ‘Telangana Global Summit 2026’ under the aegis of ‘Invest Telangana’ on December 8 and 9 this year, Reddy said.Published on August 24, 2026
