Erik Williams / Imagn ImagesBy The Athletic MLB StaffAug. 24, 2026 Updated 9:43 am EDTThe Houston Astros announced they parted ways with general manager Dana Brown on Monday after an embarrassing home stand that culminated in the team squandering a six-run lead to the basement-dwelling Athletics the day before.The Astros (65-66) entered Monday tied for the American League West lead with the Texas Rangers.Brown’s duties were transferred to Charles Cook, Gavin Dickey and Connor Huff, as well as to senior advisor Jeff Bagwell, the team announced.Brown took over GM responsibilities from James Click in January of 2023.In a news release, owner Jim Crane thanked Brown for leading “our baseball front office through key scouting, draft and development efforts.” Brown said in the same release that he wishes the organization well and he plans to continue his 36-year career in baseball.This story will be updated.
