As part of efforts to promote unity and peaceful coexistence between Christians and Muslims in Borno State, especially when insurgency and political colouration have divided the people along their beliefs and ethnic lines.
Joshua Akeredolu, Secretary of the Christian Association of Nigeria, Borno State chapter, organised interfaith events as part of activities marking his Episcopal Consecration as the sixth leader of the Cherubim and Seraphim Movement Church in Maiduguri.
According to him, the initiative aims to urge leaders to call on their followers to embrace peaceful coexistence, stressing that religious harmony is essential to achieving sustainable development in the state and the country.
Akeredolu said the gathering underscored the relative peace to bring both Christians and Muslims together to discuss peace, mutual respect and peaceful coexistence.
He charged adherents of both faiths to continue promoting peaceful coexistence, mutual understanding, and tolerance, warning against divisive messages that could create tension and undermine the relative peace in the state.
