Tamil Nadu Dairy Development Minister C. Vijayalakshmi on Monday told the Assembly that the government would consider increasing the procurement price of milk to ₹44 per litre after consulting Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay, while taking into consideration the financial health of Aavin.Responding to a special calling-attention motion, she said the Chief Minister already announced an increase in the procurement price from ₹38 to ₹41 per litre. “Since the price of Aavin milk was reduced by ₹3 per litre, it resulted in a loss of ₹270 crore. But the [previous] DMK government did not make any efforts to overcome the problem. Chief Minister Vijay, however, increased the procurement price within three months of assuming office,” she said.
