The Los Angeles Dodgers beat the Pittsburgh Pirates, 4-0, on Sunday to complete the series sweep and improve to 80-51 on the year. One of the biggest reasons why the two-time defending champions blanked the Pirates was two-time Cy Young award winner Blake Snell tossing six scoreless innings and striking six along the way. Edgardo Henriquez, Brock Stewart and Alex Vesia combined for a hitless final three innings of the game. On the offensive side of things, Freddie Freeman enjoyed another multi-hit day, and newly-promoted center fielder Alek Thomas recorded an RBI single for the second consecutive day as a Dodger. Hunter Feduccia and Max Muncy each earned an RBI as well in the win. Ahead of the eventual victory — and the reason that Thomas has been in the lineup the last two games — it was revealed that Andy Pages underwent surgery for his fractured hand. He was hit by a 100.2 mph offering in the third inning of Friday's game before ultimately being removed two innings later and moved to the injured list the next day. Manager Dave Roberts didn't seem worried about Pages returning before the postseason.“There’s still time in the season for him to be back, but I feel for him because he was having such a good year and he likes to play," Roberts said. "But yeah, we’ve got to move on and hold down the fort until he’s back.”In other news, Kyle Tucker sent a message to Dodgers fans after a stadium-wide standing ovation was arranged for him during Friday's victory. His response on Saturday was his first multi-RBI game in close to a month.“It’s nice. They come out and support us every single day,” Tucker said. “They’ve been doing their part in supporting us and we just try and go out there and win games for them, so I’m just trying to do my part in that whole thing.”Finally, it appears that Edwin Díaz has lost his role as the team's closer as he continues his second injured list stint of the season. Manager Dave Roberts didn't rule out a future return to the role when he spoke on what he has planned for the right-hander upon his return to the roster.“I think it’s more of getting him back healthy and then putting him in some softer-landing situations to get the confidence, to get the feel and the trust of executing pitches, getting major-league hitters out and then at that point in time we’ll go from there,” Roberts said.Edwin Diaz shares his thoughts on not being the closer after returning from the IL, but his goal is to get back to being the closer. “Yeah, because that's why they signed me here to be the closer,” Diaz said. “But I haven't pitched good this year, so you know, like I said,… pic.twitter.com/BDyRvv2xCt— Fredo Cervantes (@FredoCervantes) August 23, 2026Here’s all the latest Dodgers news and stories (click the headline for the full article): Dodgers' Andy Pages Underwent Surgery for Fractured Hand Kyle Tucker Sends Message to Dodgers Fans After Standing Ovation Dodgers Demote Edwin Diaz From Closer Role Amid IL Stint Dodgers Officially Move Starting Pitcher to Bullpen, Announce Exciting Shohei Ohtani News Dodgers Announce Starting Lineup for Series Finale vs Pirates, With One ChangeDodgers Tweets of the DayDodgers manager Dave Roberts said Andy Pages underwent surgery on his fractured hand🚨🚨🚨Full story below⬇️⬇️ pic.twitter.com/mSL6uxrGY5— Dodgers On SI (@DodgersOnSI) August 23, 2026A couple of Academy Award winners in the building. 🏆🏆Thank you Ke Huy Quan and Michael B.
