Esmaeil Baghaei, spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, announced that Omani Foreign Minister Badr Al-Busaidi will travel to Tehran on Tuesday, August 25.
According to Baghaei, the Omani Foreign Minister will meet and hold talks with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi during the visit.
The Foreign Ministry spokesperson did not provide specific details regarding the primary agenda of the meeting, stating only that “bilateral and regional issues” will be the central focus of the discussions between the two foreign ministers.
Baghaei also expressed hope that dialogue between the “two coastal states of the Strait of Hormuz” would contribute to “strengthening peace and security in the region.”
Iran and Oman had previously initiated discussions regarding shipping lanes through the Strait of Hormuz. Officials from the Islamic Republic stated at the time that Tehran and Muscat had reached an agreement on a new navigation route in the Strait of Hormuz.
