The victim, D.P.H., born in 1999 and living in Thai Binh Commune, Lang Son Province, was killed when a landslide struck his home, according to the Vietnam Disaster and Dyke Management Authority under the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment.
Heavy rain, thunderstorms and strong winds damaged or tore roofs from 205 houses, while another 2,506 homes were flooded in Lang Son.
Nearly 7,900 hectares of crops were inundated or damaged in the northern provinces of Lang Son, Bac Ninh and Quang Ninh.

The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting said that at 4 a.m. on Aug. 24, the storm was over waters northeast of Bach Long Vi special zone, about 140 km east-southeast of Quang Ninh and 145 km east of Hai Phong, with maximum sustained winds of 88 kph, and gusts up to 103-117 kph.
