‘Cobra’ saved by firefighters in Cebu City turned over to DENR

CEBU CITY, Philippines — A suspected cobra was rescued by firefighters at Purok 2, Barangay San Jose, Cebu City, on Sunday afternoon, August 23, 2026.

In an interview on Monday, August 24, SFO1 Loida Abellana of the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) San Nicolas Fire Substation said the wildlife was turned over to the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) for proper evaluation and safekeeping.

Snake rescue

Abellana said firefighters responded to a call from a concerned citizen at around 5 p.m. reporting the presence of a snake in Purok 2.
