MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Health (DOH) is strengthening its hospital referral system as it prepares for a possible increase in leptospirosis cases following weeks of widespread flooding, with 33 government hospitals now operating dedicated fast lanes for patients who may need treatment.

The DOH said 33 hospitals in Metro Manila, the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), and Regions I, II and III have activated Leptospirosis Fast Lanes or Express Lanes for patients who may need immediate medical attention and hospitalization.
