Syria's former top Islamic official, Ahmad Badr Al Din Hassoun, has been sentenced to life in prison on charges including incitement to violence.
Mr Hassoun was accused of using his position to encourage crackdowns on protesters and supporting foreign military intervention in Syria's civil war.
Four members of the Assad family have received death sentences since Damascus courts began issuing verdicts this month for war-related crimes.
Deposed president Bashar Al Assad and his brother Maher were sentenced to death in absentia for their role in the 2011 crackdown in Deraa.
