The Briton made the admission despite winning the final Dutch Grand Prix at Zandvoort on Sunday.Norris has now won two races in a row after also triumphing in Hungary last month. He also secured his second straight pole. However, despite his impressive form, he remains 83 points behind championship leader Kimi Antonelli. Norris believes McLaren must improve its weaknesses before a serious title challenge can begin.Lando Norris identifies McLaren’s biggest weaknessLando Norris delivered a brilliant drive at Zandvoort to claim victory in the final Dutch Grand Prix. He recovered the lead after a chaotic opening and then used strong tyre management and impressive pace on the hard tyres to beat his rivals.The result has given Norris renewed hope in the championship. However, he remains cautious about McLaren’s chances.“I’m confident because we clearly have a strong car. We have a strong car in certain areas. It’s not like last year where we were pretty good everywhere. We’re very, very strong in high speed, and that’s the place we’ve improved the car the most, is high-speed performance. No one matches us in high speed, and that’s a good thing”, he said.Norris believes the weakness could hurt McLaren at Monza and Azerbaijan. Both circuits have long straights and fewer high-speed corners. McLaren’s higher drag could also become a problem.“My pace advantage to Mercedes in Turn Seven, Eight was crazy, but their advantage that they have to us in slow speed is also crazy. I know I’ve just won two races in a row and had two poles in a row, but at the minute I don’t have the car I need to fight for a championship. And I know that’s quite a big comment”, he added.McLaren team principal Andrea Stella remains more optimistic. He believes the team’s recent progress could lead to a strong finish to the season.“If we can confirm our improvements in Monza, then we can look with some optimism at the remainder of the season”, Stella said.He also praised Norris’ current form and described him as a driver operating at a world champion level.Norris is now focused on taking the season one race at a time. He knows the championship gap can still change quickly, especially with Mercedes facing development problems.Kimi Antonelli leads the standings, while George Russell and Lewis Hamilton are 59 points behind him. Mercedes have not introduced a major upgrade since Canada, allowing McLaren and Ferrari to close the gap.Antonelli will also face a grid penalty at his home Italian Grand Prix after taking an engine beyond his permitted allocation.For Norris, the message is simple. McLaren is improving, but more work is needed.
