More than £300,000 has been raised for the families of two police officers killed when joyriders crashed into them on a dual carriageway.PC Matthew Blades, 37, and PC Tom Clough, 38, died early on Saturday when a Volkswagen Passat travelling the wrong way down the A66 near Middlesbrough crashed head-on into their police car.Two GoFundMe pages have been created for the officers' families, with Cleveland Police Federation's effort raising almost £290,000 as of this morning.The federation said its officers had 'paid the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty' and left behind 'heartbroken loved ones'.It added the funds raised would be split equally between the families.A second fundraiser had raised a further £30,000 for the officers' relatives after they died 'protecting the public and putting themselves in harm’s way for others'.PC Blades, a father-of-two, and PC Clough, whose family described him as a 'hero', were killed after the Volkswagen crashed into their police car.The young men in the Passat, which had been chased by other officers, were named as Michael Robert Cahill, 23; Theo Rae, 17; Cole Robert Worthy, 17; Jacob Matusiak, 23, and Makai Saddington, 18.
