Lithium Surges as GFEX Futures Jump 4.12%

China’s GFEX lithium carbonate 2701 futures settled at 158,700 CNY/tonne, a 4.12% gain on Friday, with open interest up 31,875 lots as fresh longs entered.

The Global X Lithium & Battery Tech ETF closed at US$76.61, up 2.72% on the day and 18.61% year-to-date, reflecting the miners and battery names it holds.

Albemarle shares jumped 6.75% to US$143.25, extending a week that saw the stock climb from the low US$130s into the mid US$140s.

SQM’s New York-listed shares rose 4.47% to US$81.96, building on Thursday’s 4.07% advance to cap a two-session run for the Chilean producer.
