In a statement, the IDF said the commander had "advanced terror attacks" against Israeli troops operating in the Gaza Strip. Last Monday, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and U.S. envoy Jared Kushner agreed to allow Israel to continue its policy of targeted killings in Gaza, even as mediators and the Board of Peace seek to advance a broader plan for the territory's reconstruction. The decision reverses an earlier order from Israel's political leadership to the military not to carry out assassination strikes in Gaza without the IDF chief of staff's approval, allowing troops to strike without such approval only in cases of "imminent danger."Seven pro-Palestinian protesters sentenced over 2024 Golden Gate Bridge blockadeSeven protesters who blocked traffic on San Francisco's Golden Gate Bridge during a 2024 pro-Palestinian demonstration against Israel's war in Gaza were sentenced to 30 days, with credit for time already served. The seven were convicted in July on misdemeanor charges including false imprisonment, obstruction of a thoroughfare and unlawful assembly. The jury was unable to reach a verdict on the more serious felony conspiracy charge, which prosecutors said they would not retry. The sentences include jail time and participation in a work-release program, as well as six months of probation and more than $1,000 in fines and restitution.
