Anton Stach does not score bad goals. That is six now for Leeds United and they have all been worth enduring the adverts to watch back on YouTube.Jose Sa, Dean Henderson, Emiliano Martinez and, now, Matz Sels. None of them has been able to stop Stach with a dead ball at his feet.Against Nottingham Forest at the City Ground on Saturday, he was 30 yards from goal, marginally left of the width of the penalty area. He was slightly closer to goal than he was for his sensational free-kick at Villa Park in February, but far wider.The expected goals (xG) value on the shot was 0.03 and this dropped to 0.02 for expected goals on target (xGOT) after he hit it, which, in other words, means the shot should, ordinarily, only find the net twice in every 100 attempts. And yet this is what Stach does. He bends statistics to his will.Sels will, naturally, wonder if he could have done more to keep out the strike, having got close enough to put one palm on the ball. Stach had lifted it over a two-man wall and, using his instep, wrapped enough of his boot around it to curl the shot into the near corner of the goal. Most of us were expecting a cross.In his post-match press conference, manager Daniel Farke was asked if he expected Stach to shoot and score from such an angle.“Yes, actually, I was thinking about it a bit,” he said. “Last season, I would have never thought (about it), because, ‘With these three steps, how do you want to score from there?’.“He has done it time and time again. He surprised me last season. Meanwhile, I trust him with everything.”Since arriving from Hoffenheim last summer, Stach has shown his eccentric side. His offbeat social media graphics are a staple of many Leeds fans’ weekend routines, while his YouTube channel recently featured street interviews in which the New York public was asked to rate the looks of his team-mates out of 10. Then, earlier this month, he launched his own burger at a Leeds restaurant for charity.
