It was his first time taking a penalty since missing a spot kick for Lazio in a league fixture against Empoli in October 2024. Since the 2019-20 season, Castellanos has scored 15 penalties, missing four.Following Jarrod Bowen’s missed penalty in the FA Cup quarter-final shootout loss to Leeds United in April, a source with knowledge of the situation says it was agreed behind the scenes that Castellanos would take the next awarded penalty.Last season Bowen and Lucas Paqueta, who joined Brazilian side Flamengo for €41.25million (£35.8m; $48.9m) in February, rotated penalty duties. The England international converted against Sunderland and Brentford, while Paqueta scored against Nottingham Forest and Brighton & Hove Albion.“We trust Taty to take the penalties,” said Nuno in his post-match press conference. When asked if the striker will remain the designated penalty taker this season, Nuno added: “I don’t know, for the next game (against Southampton) we have to decide.”The boos are backIt was customary for the London Stadium faithful to boo the players during the 2025-26 season.
