The president of Aegean Airlines, Eftichios Vassilakis, is seeking to establish a direct air connection between Greece and Kazakhstan, following a recent meeting with Kazakhstan’s ambassador to Greece, Timur Sultangozhin.Kazakhstan is emerging as a key transport hub between Asia and Europe through the so-called Middle Corridor, while Greece aims to strengthen its role as a gateway to the European market.Against this backdrop, improved air connectivity with the Republic of Kazakhstan would support not only tourism but also broader business mobility, investment and logistics. The Middle Corridor is seen as having a significant impact on trade and Greece’s international geopolitical position. It is recalled that a high-level delegation from the Republic of Kazakhstan visited Greece last year as part of an official scheduled visit. The meeting focused on exploring opportunities for cooperation between the two sides in transport, logistics and maritime services.
