CALAPAN CITY, Oriental Mindoro — A dead spinner dolphin was recovered and examined by authorities after it was found in Barangay Caminawit in San Jose, Occidental Mindoro on Sunday (Aug. 23).
Dr. Mico Angelo Reyes, a veterinarian from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources’ Tamaraw Conservation Program, identified the animal as a spinner dolphin measuring about 2.1 meters long.
Based on the physical examination, Reyes said the dolphin died from injuries sustained after becoming entangled in a fishing net, which eventually led to its drowning.
