Aug. 23 (UPI) -- Actress Shelley Fabares, a prolific television actress whose credits include "Coach" and "One Day at A Time," died Saturday at 82 after a brief illness, her family said.
Fabares, who was a series regular on "The Donna Reed Show" between 1958 and 1963, also had two Top 40 hits including "Johnny Angel." She starred in three movies with Elvis Presley in the 1960s.
She later played the wife of dying Chicago Bears running back Brian Piccolo in the TV movie, "Brian's Song" in 1971.
She was nominated twice for the Emmy for her role on "Coach," where she played the TV newscaster and love interest of fictional football coach Hayden Fox, played by Craig T. Nelson.
