After an embarrassing pitching performance against the New York Mets, the Chicago White Sox rebounded with a 2-1 walk-off win by Tristan Peters and won the series. After the bullpen was exhausted on Saturday thanks to Luis Castillo going just 2.2 innings, just four pitchers went in the game, giving up next to nothing,Sean Newcomb would open the game and go two innings, with just two hits allowed and three strikeouts. Bulk reliever Erick Fedde would come into the game after that. In four innings, Fedde would give up three hits and a walk with two strikeouts. He would depart with runners on first and second with nobody out in the seventh.Hagen Smith would come into the game in a serious jam. He would get out of it by striking out the side. Smith would pitch another scoreless inning. In his first eight major league innings, he's been nearly unhittable, with 13 strikeouts and just one hit allowed, which happened to be a Pete Crow-Armstrong walk-off home run. However, Grant Taylor would blow the save after not giving up an earned run since July 2. McLean, through six innings, gave up just one hit and four walks. The White Sox would have a few moments to capitalize with runners in scoring position, but would fail, going 0-for-4. However, designated hitter Andrew Benintendi would hit a clutch double to score third baseman Miguel Vargas from first base to take the 1-0 lead.While Taylor would blow it in the ninth, Tristan Peters had other plans. With one out in the bottom of the ninth, Peters would hit a walk-off home run that just barely got out on a 3-1 fastball. Once again, the White Sox would walk off the Mets for the second walk-off this series. Even when the offense is struggling, they still find ways to win games.Next UpAfter a series win against the Mets, the White Sox will host the Texas Rangers for a three-game series before a much-needed off-day. On Monday, Rangers starter Kumar Rocker will take on the White Sox offense. For Chicago, another bullpen day will happen, with José Urquidy starting.
