The downpour caused part of the vast refuse pile to collapse, triggering a landslide that buried shacks in the surrounding area.Guinea’s civil protection service gave a provisional death toll of 22, while rescuers continued searching for survivors. Earlier, Dar Es Salam suburb chief Lancine Sylla told AFP that 18 bodies had been recovered and taken to a morgue.The landfill had been scheduled to close on Sunday after authorities ordered residents living nearby to leave because of the risk of collapses.
